In Care+ you can exclude certain job types from overtime billing, such as 2-client care, sick time paid, or paid time off. The employee isn't working the hours being calculated, for example, paid time off. When it comes to 2-client care, they are scheduled simultaneously for two people. 2-client care has the 1st client paying the wage for the shift, so the employee is being compensated for hours worked. The second job type is not paid, therefore, could exclude the hours calculated toward overtime.
Utilizing this function should be done carefully. It can raise several flags during a DOL audit. You would want to make sure that job types that are set to exclude overtime are labeled as such to ensure that there are no mistakes when scheduling. An example would be, "Paid Time Off - OT Exempt"
This is done per branch by the Care+ team. An email is required to confirm the details of the request. To request an exemption for specific job types, please email products@hwcg.com.
